WELCOME TO Foragers of Happiness
Where Cooking Meets Community
My name is Jessica and I am the food blogger and recipe creator behind Foragers of Happiness. I am on a mission to reconnect with long lost cooking techniques that not only nourish us, but create a sense of togetherness among friends and family. Join me in a community where we can teach each other about baking sourdough, made from scratch recipes, and how to step up our culinary game.
Foragers of Happiness is more than just recipes – it’s a gathering place for like-minded food enthusiasts to share your kitchen triumphs, and seek inspiration for your next culinary adventure.
My name is Jessica and I am the author and creative behind this food blog. I want to share a little bit about me so you can get to know me. Here in this little space on the internet I share my favorite recipes and foods that I hope you will also enjoy.
Growing up, I always had a big garden. As I got older, I joined in and began helping my dad, even planting my own little herb garden. It was during this time that I grew an appreciation for where my food comes from and the value of home-grown food. I went on to study nutrition in college and received my bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics and a minor in chemistry. I then went on to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I have years of experience in the food space including taking food science coursework, attending culinary arts demonstrations at a local culinary school, and participating in an internship at the Los Poblanos Historic Farm and Inn. During this internship, I worked on the organic farm, learning about how food is produced and farmed organically. I then went on to learn and train under the head chef of the restaurant where I learned culinary techniques that I still utilize to this day. Through all my education and experiences, I grew an even greater appreciation for the importance our food has in our lives.
The recipes on this site are primarily made from scratch with a special interest in sourdough bread and sourdough discard recipes. Although I am not a vegan, I do have some dietary restrictions in my family so I often share egg free and dairy free recipes or write in a substitution for these ingredients in my recipes. My hope is that you and your family enjoy these delicious recipes so much that you won’t even realize they don’t have these ingredients.
I hope you enjoy this cozy little corner of the internet.
